    Hello Brenda,

This is a sweet write from you. I love how you convey emotions so clearly and honestly. I like too your separation of text to create stanzas. You have a typo in the word 'where' this should be 'were'.

    My favourite part:

    My day starts,
    with you.
    My nights end,
    next to you.
    Our sleeping breaths
    in unison.
    Much like it has been
    since we first met...
    ^
To me this is love calibrated, true and in tune.

    Well done,

    Michael x

Brenda, this is a honest and sincere write which many of us can relate to. It's so elegantly done that the emotion shines through and I think you are both as lucky as each other to have found such an honest love.

1/ This is a sad opening but beautiful because it shows how much you love your husband and how honest your love is even though you have suffered heart ache and pain in the past and if I grow old like this then I would be proud of myself just like you should be for overcoming past pains.

2/ Again, another honest part that shows this is the real deal, honest love and I must say there's not much of that about.

3/ As Michael says this is most definitely a true in tune love as I have said with the previous stanzas. I imagine he is your first thought in the morning and last at night and everything in between as well as your lovely children and grandchildren and I also imagine you both lying there sleeping you chests rising and falling in sync with each other, how beautiful.

4/ Oh Brenda, this is absolutely stunning. I imagine your husband is a joker and he jokes alot but says your in his head to me meaning you are a gem and he has only ever thought of being with someone as lovely and as genuine as you, right? That last part made my heart melt and it goes to show that if he happens to die first you'd probably die of a broken heart.... This reminded me of my Nan and Great Uncle, you always saw them together, as my nan died in July 2008 and it was suspicious circumstances according to the police because of how they found her but it turns out that after months of checks (can't think of the names) and her funeral the coroners court (I think) decided she had, had an heart attack and a severe bleed to the brain caused by her falling a few months before which the Drs didn't find anyway after this came out of how she died my Great Uncle died a few days later and we always said (me and my Mum) that it was like he was waiting to find out what had happened to her before he could pass peacefully because he was never the same after her death.

Anyway I will quit rambling lol.
    All the best,
    Em

Em, thank you so much. It's true of dying of a broken heart, they have documented this. I feel like I am the luckiest woman out there, this life we carved out together has been amazing. He is indeed a joker, I never know what's coming out of his head, he makes me laugh all the time. Good times, bad times, in between times, we do it together and it is amazing!

    Brenda,

I can certainly relate to this piece of writing. I have always said to my wife - as selfish as it sounds - I hope I go before she does! I know for a fact that she is strong enough to pick herself up and carry on and the kids would look after her. But me? If I were left alone, I would simply fall to pieces!
Cowardly, I know, but there you have it, lol

    A powerful write,

    Ben

Ben, thank you so much! I totally understand where you are at with all that. I don't think it's cowardly, losing your mate is unbearable , especially since you two have been together so long.

A touching tribute to a love that has no doubt change your life. I have written a poem on this topic before, but coming from someone whom I know to be truly, madly, deeply in love with their significant other (whereas I haven't one myself) brings its meaning to an ethereal level. It is wise to prepare, but even wiser to acknowledge that one day you could be, in this sense, broken hearted ... anyone can, with anyone they love. It makes each day waking up next to someone that much more special.

I admire your love, and can only hope the cure to death is found so you never experience this heartbreak.

    Beautiful write. Much love,

Thank you so much Stephen! Yes, he is my true love and I hope we have many, many years together. I hold out hope you too will find that one true love. He's out there, I just know it! Hugs to you my friend...

    Such a beautiful, heartfelt poem!
Brenda, how simply you wrote it, yet so meaningful.
I can't even decide which stanza is better or which part is more beautiful, but for one thing I am sure that this poem will be in my heart-
    always and forever.
