Love is a commitment

by Beautiful Tragedy   Apr 23, 2017

You were controlling,
And I was young and naive.
You were caring,
And I needed you.
You were kind,
And I was desperate for that;
So I held onto you.
You loved me;
And I couldn't have asked for anything better.
But You were selfish,
And I let you be.
You were manipulative,
And I fell under that spell.
You shut me out,
And I couldn't stop you.
But you weren't always so terrible;
I seen glimpses of who I fell in love
With here and there.
So I loved you anyways;
Because love is a commitment,
Not a feeling.
And for what it's worth;
I still love you.
No matter how much I shouldn't.

    It is so hard when another doesn't care for you as much as you care for them. It becomes a power play and you unfortunately end up hurt. There's an old saying that goes; "He who cares the least has the most power." So very true-

      I'm afraid you're right. And I should've seen it coming.
