Hello, I must say this pulled at my heartstrings, gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye because of how powerful it was, how well written it was and the emotion within it. I am truly blown away and I know now where Ben gets his like for poetry from?.

The title was rather intriguing? and for some reason I thought of instantly of an ant that's probably because it's one of the smallest creatures I know but I'm not sure why I thought of that.

1/ This made me think of the vulnerability of a child in and out of a mother's womb and how they curl up in balls in there because it shows (in my opinion) that you feel vulnerable or as the title states 'small' and it seems with you curling up into a ball you don't want to be found because of the tears.

2/ This is very powerful and the image I got was you being washed away in your salty tears and my heart broke a little with it.

3/ Wonderful imagery but sad that there's lovers around (so I think) whilst your alone, it's a horrible image but one beautifully portrayed.

4/ Omg even the birds are upset by you crying out.. this shows your pain completely. Love the image of the birds being in a string quartet though

5/ A sad but wonderful ending to a sad well written piece.

Thank you everyone. Em. We are like ants in the bigger scheme of things! But we can make a difference, and that is what this poem is about. Anguish and care.

I hope this somehow explains how we all feel sometimes. But out of bad comes good. Just depends how we interpret it and how we deal with it. That's the message really. I do appreciate all your comments and am enjoying your poems. Forgive me if I don't respond as often as I'd like too. I work and life is hectic!

I think everyone else has said what I would have said and more. So all I can say is it's beautiful it captures the vulnerability that we all feel at some point in our lives some more than others. Beautiful sensitive piece. Milly x
