    I had no idea what was the Eureka Stockade so thank goodness for Google. I think that it is really important that poetry is written about historical events because like in this case it helps raise awareness of an event that might otherwise be forgotten or not known about in other countries...

    This was a significant event - the Battle of the Eureka Stockade was between miners and the colonial forces of Australia on 3 December 1854. It was named after the stockade structure that was built by the miners during the conflict and is now considered the second instituted act of political democracy in Australia.
