A Curious Creature

by Walter   Jun 25, 2020

Today when I woke, it was with a smile
The sun just emerging and making me mobile
I rose from my sleep eager to start the day
Light begins to shine revealing all on display

When I go outside the ground so deep green
While soft on my feet and making me real keen
I walk out farther as my eyes adjust to light
The sun above the horizon and already burning bright

It's now that I notice the sky a gorgeous blue
Distracted for a moment with all that is in view
And not a single cloud way up in all the sky
Though just one colour its a beauty you can't deny

Looking at the horizon with mountains coloured brown
As far as the eye can see they are all around
The tallest of them all where their peeks just seem to grow
Their contrast is so stunning, pure white from the snow

But as I keep walking this all slowly starts to change
Just past all those mountains is something really strange
Man is all around and seems to have made a mess
He's built a huge city but for me it doesn't impress

As I'm getting closer I'm no longer breathing air
The pollution is so bad as I'm walking towards there
I have to stop and rest as now energy I lack
The only colours that I see seem to be grey or black

What an awful place that man calls his home
Where polluting cars are the only thing that roam
Who on Earth would ever want to live this way?
I might have travelled far but I'm not going to stay

See I'm just a fox who has a curious mind
I have travelled so far to see what I could find
But to live this way you're either crazy or you're brave
This is why I'm heading back to the comforts of my cave
