Insecurities

Winter warmth
felt icy, so I ran
through the flurries
towards the glow
that sat just beyond -
the drops fell from my
eyes and lashes as
I embraced
the December coals,
unsure in my need
for warmth whether I
deserved the sparks
and charcoaled ash
that left my skin
speckled in warmth.
