A really bittersweet poem, but I read it to, as, not a refusal of death, but acceptance of it when it's your time. And that you will still hold and cherish every part of your love.

"And I’d pray to leave imprints of us behind,"

^ I love this line, that desire to leave memories and evidence behind of your love. Knowing that even if there's nothing tangible still there, it will not die out. It's not going to be extinguished in death.

I see this piece too as a realization that death does not try to be the enemy; it simply is what it is, sometimes I see it as indifferent, and it's up to the person reflecting on it to make of it what they can. Don't hold on to life with grudges and regret and denial, but realize the beauty and purity in what was had.

Wow! It’s so refreshing to have another person see and feel what I do. Thanks!

I’m late. I don’t usually check this site often anymore.
