I read this senryu last night and it stuck with me today, not to mention the significance of the title. I have many books on my shelf that are on my to-read list, and even if it may take months, I keep reading, with only intermittent breaks. But with writing a book, it's a much more looming task. I interpreted this as also someone who's spirit has been broken often, someone who is discouraged from documenting and writing parts of them to share, so they find comfort in what others write. Like they know somewhere deep down they have their own voice and story to share, but that it will be a tough process to open up parts of themselves they previous closed off to the world.
