I can't get over how early that is, 5: AM ah! Here I am thinking I got up early today at 10 AM haha. I love everything about this. The imagery and details you provide, the tenderness and love in small reminders like fruit and good news, setting each other up to have a wonderful day. Also, you wanting to get up an hour earlier not because you're pressured to, or expected to, but because you want to. I half-expected the end to be a twist, like a realization this person is no longer here but you do the routine anyway, and I'm pleasantly surprised there were no heart-wrenching moments! This was pure and wholesome. I love the exploration of routine too, and what that means. Many times, I hear others talk about a routine in sharp contrast to what you wrote. But there is a gentle and selfless love in this; there's no resentment or dullness in performing the perfunctory tasks. It's just love in a simple form. And I can't think of anything as sweet as helping someone start their day, being together, and enjoying the company.
