The Morn Of My Heart

by Christen Kuikoua   May 31, 2023

O heart! Why must you lay your love so bare?
To share your heart and soul with one so dear?

I thought that
I was strong enough
to bear the pain and hold my bluff,
To hide my feelings from your gaze,
And keep them locked for future days.

For Months I kept this secret hidden well.
A feeling that burned, but dared not speak its name
I held it so close, not wanting to tell
Yet in the end, the truth could not restrain.

I reach out but you're no longer there,
Left with an emptiness that's hard to bear.
Now, I sit alone with tears in my eyes
Wishing this day never came to pass

My heart is shattered,
But not feeling ashamed
for thought with pain am now free of chains

So here I am, a heart full of sorrow,
Hoping against hope for a better tomorrow.
But today, I'll sit with my broken heart,
And hope for a new fresh start.

Cursed. Is this day that brought me so much pain?
Cursed is my heart for falling first again
