She needs to fly

by Mark Hopwood   Jun 9, 2025

I sit here missing her so
I cry and wish things weren't this way
I only ever held her back though
And made her miserable in so many ways

The truth is I never could measure up
Or be what she needed me to be
Cos I'm just this crumbling mess
Insecure as f**k and nothing to see
I was always punching above my weight as they say
Since I have Been with you
Just f**ked up invisible me
And you, you know this is true

She could never be happy with me
She's told me this so many times
In another breathe, I am her world
But I cannot but see all the signs
That she cannot fly with me holding her down
And she's beautiful and she need to fly
I've been dead all my life, pretending
To live, but actually just waiting to die

If you love someone set them free,
Only now I get what this means
I was only ever her nightmare, and she is always my dreams
