I saw a dream.

I saw a dream last night,
strange and eerie it was.

Climbers and creepers of different types
emerging from the mattress,
and behind the headboard.
As though secretly trying to claim me and my bed,
by sustaining itself from the lump of soil
which was under the bed, away from my sight.

I wondered for a while,
and tried seeking reasons for the overgrowth.
When I found none,
I snapped their stems and dropped them to the floor,
but they turned into slithering snakes
ready to strike me if I did not step back.

Scared and confused,
I made peace with them,
thinking, as long as they did no harm
I should leave them undisturbed.

But some familiar faces appeared in my room,
and laughed at me and my condition,
when I covered myself with the blanket
like a shroud from head to toe,
ready to be gripped all over by the overgrowth.
