Be safe

by Beautiful Tragedy   Jun 19, 2026

You told me to be safe-
As if I was the one your heart was sitting next to on the concrete Sunday night,
And I cried because nobody should ever have to know what that’s like;
Life reminding you how quickly things can change.
And I was angry at the people who left you waiting-
because brain bleeds are no joke and twenty minutes is a lifetime when you’re crying on pavement beside someone you love.
The anger settled into my bones;
You were waiting for a call back like it wasn’t a time sensitive emergency-
I’d like to swipe everything off of that operators desk.
And you were confused on why you could handle prison incidents but this wrecked you-
Honey unfortunately our brains aren’t clinical with people we love.
You told me to be safe as if I was the one your heart sat next to on that pavement Sunday night-
And I cried for you like I was.
