THE WIDE LOOP

THE WIDE LOOP

She threw a wide loop and roped in my heart,
that made me both happy and gay,
she threw a wide loop right from the start,
and she threw it my way,
she used a blue rope, and the cast was just fine,
it sailed through the air, and found me right there,
waiting to be caught my her line,
I took one look, and I knew I was lost,
I was caught in the loop that she tossed,
now never again, will my heart be free,
and that is the way it should be,
my heart was waiting for the loop that she threw,
the loop that she headed my way,
when it settled around me, it was then that I knew,
that I was no longer a stray,
she took up the slack in the loop that she tied,
the loop she tied to my heart,
and no matter how hard I pulled and I tried,
that loop just wouldn't part,
the years have now passed and the loop is still strong,
far stronger than her or than me,
when we pull together the stronger it gets,
and that is the way it should be.
