Never You

by Brittany   Aug 5, 2004

I'm standing here tonight,
my body on fire.
My fingertips are sizzling,
it's you I desire.

I'm waiting here tonight,
waiting for something, anything.
Waiting for you to come see me and touch me,
waiting for you to be near me and hear me.

I'm standing here screaming your name to the stars,
but you can't hear me, you're just too far.
I'm laying here balling up all of my pain,
the tears on my shirt will leave a broken-hearted stain.

All the times you told me, it was never true,
I guess I was wrong, it's never been you.

So here I lay in this barren street tonight,
nothing above except the broken out street light.
from the times I've screamed your name with all my might,
oh how I hate you and your sudden flight.

And now I'm laying here kicking myself,
because I never realized how fake this was.
All the times you laughed with me, cried with me, made love to me,
It was never true.
I guess I was wrong, it's never been you.
