Within the Darkness I Hide

Within the darkness i do hide.
this cold, black world in which i reside.
a place so dark there seems no end.
all returns again and again.
nothing seems to go away.
all the hurt will forever stay.
all the wounds they do not heal.
your good dreams; they are not real.
the darkness holds on to me tightly.
all day, all night it consumes me.
tears no longer fill me, only hate.
my heart is black now, i opened the gate.
this is the last time i take the blame.
I'm done playing your little game.
i hurt myself to get back at you.
you never knew what you would do.
you pushed me away from the light.
the darkness i refuse to fight.
i kept everything bundled inside.
there was no place i could run and hide.
you lost me with no return.
to think of you makes my blood burn.
you pushed me away.
in the darkness i stay.
you never understood what you did.
I'm so tired of giving in.
i tried, like you, to do what i wanted to.
but what i wanted was to be with you.
my walls are closing in so fast.
the light in me; it will not last.
i can't take it anymore.
why did i not leave you before.
i wanted to stay with you and your touch.
but all the hurt; it was too much.
but now that I'm gone forever more.
thoughts of you; i shut the door.
but even when i close my eyes.
i still see you and a part of me dies.
i think of the times that i cried.
within the darkness i do hide.
