Alarm clocks

by alexandra   Aug 19, 2004

Don't wake me
I'm not done dreaming
I'm still holding on
to my sleep.

turn off my alarm clock
and lay right back down
hoping that maybe
i can still catch the end of that dream.

pull my blanket over my head
tell the sun to wait a little bit longer
just let me finish my dream
just let me sleep forever

hold my stuffed animals closely
close my eyes quickly
fool my mom who thinks I'm sleeping
fool my dad who thinks I'll wake up never.

but it's just too late
I've lost the dream
the sun couldn't wait
and the moon went to sleep.

my alarm clock went off again
my mom came in and said
my dad saw me awake and then
i had to get out of bed.

but all day long
i thought of my dream
thinking the only thing that could go wrong
was I'd be too busy thinking to sleep.

oh but that didn't happen
i fell asleep quickly
but i didn't have the dream again
this one wasn't the same.

but even so i loved it
and right before the happy ending
my alarm clock went off again
telling me to start my day.

so all day long i dreamt
of my dreams from the nights before
and when my day was finally over
i couldn't take it anymore.

i skipped my favorite TV show
i didn't eat my dinner
i went to bed WAY too early
just so I'd have time for

my happy ending
that never came
because my alarm clock broke
and my dream was lame.

the ending of my dream
was completely dreadful
i didn't get the guy in the end
what a waste of time!

and thought my dream was horrible
it's hard to think that it came from my mind,
the moral to this story is-
alarm clocks are awful things to buy.

*sorry that was so long!
