The Curse of the Ancients:The Hordes

by МÅťťђĕш Яĕĩŋĕßĕřg   Sep 13, 2004

Never once looking back, the egg in his hold,
He would complete the treasure, the half of gold
And the half of silver joined at last
Would bring back furies form the past.
Yet this he knew not and carried on
Until he saw the sun rising at dawn
Finally he was out of the cave, out into the light
And he joined the two halves, pressing with all his might.
The ground shook, what had he done?
The heavens trembled, clouds blocked out the sun!
The traveler heard furious footsteps, a mighty army approached.
Louder and louder the running came, closer they encroached.
Out of the caves of old the hordes of creatures came.
The traveler was in dire straits, he had himself to blame.
He took the egg in his hold and ran toward his boat
But as he put the egg inside, the craft refused to float.
Stranded he was upon this accursed land.
So he decided he was going to make a stand.
He gazed toward the horrible gloomy caves
Terror to his front, his back to the waves.
He now saw the armies two, they were a familiar sight
Made of the very same creatures he fought with all his might.
But the bones looked different out in the light of day
The cold creatures boned were frozen, and nothing he could say.
And the darker army with bones charred black
He saw the sight and was taken aback.
Then a surprise came, what luck for the man.
The armies were out for each other, a war was at hand.
Up charged the blackened horde, toward the icy mass.
Down charged the icy army, wailing crude and crass
The clash between the twain rang thunderous and clear
And the foolish traveler thought he had nothing to fear.
For a while they went fighting, fire and icy snow.
Yet for all the melee, neither army suffered a blow.
For souly could fire vanquish fire, Ice was much the same.
There was a stalemate of immortals, neither one could mame.
And suddenly the traveler remembered the dragons in the caves
A new terror might still be coming; he had naught but to be brave.
