The Curse of the Ancients:The Dragons

by МÅťťђĕш Яĕĩŋĕßĕřg   Sep 13, 2004

But come they did not the traveler saw, as night soon drew near.
A second rumble rang out loud, his fate was becoming clear.
a thunderous roar from the black cave filled him full of dread
And Soon a deafening cry from the white cave came in its stead.
In the midst of the frenzied fighting, the black dragon came out
With golden teeth, horns, nails, and fire in a spout.
It was covered with dark charred flesh with onyx glinting scales.
Its blood red eye pierced one's soul sharper than tooth or nails.
The strident roar resounded out, shaking ground and sky.
And then he heard the white dragon let out a shrieking cry.
It emerged from its own cave, white and frostbite blue
Shimmering silver scales, and teeth of platinum too.
Yellow were this dragon's eyes, its pupils like a cat
Piercing through the man's soul too, its cry knocking him flat
With their battle cries resounding loud, the two took to the air.
The White the screech of an eagle, the black the roar of a bear.
As the fighting on the ground raged on, a new one took to the sky.
Those mighty dragons fought long and hard: neither one could die
Up soared the black dragon, reaching in to take a bite,
The dragon of ice dodged the teeth, but only by the slight.
Soon the traveler realized the creatures were coming his way
He had to kill the armies if he desired survive the day.
Since creatures could not kill each other, how might he prevail?
The idea now occurred to him to induce a burning hail.
Such a thing could destroy both armies, containing ice and fire
he had to combine both dragon's breaths, a job he did not desire.
And how to do even that, it would kill him if he tried
What could get them both to shoot and not burn or freeze his hide?
The egg, the egg, of course thought he, it got them both to fight.
If he found a way to get it between them, they'd be gone from sight.
But egg was under water, he went to where it sank.
His luck increased, for as he looked, the egg landed on a bank.
He picked up the infernal egg and ran with all his speed.
Away from the hordes of creatures, creating a commanding lead.
He climbed to the top of the caves where there stood a single tree
He tied the egg in his cloak and climbed as high as could be.
Placing the egg between two branches, firm and quite secure,
He climbed down from the limbs, he now had set his lure.
Watching as the dragons took notice, he ducked behind a boulder.
For surely he desired not to be frozen or to smolder.
Up and around the dragons tumbled, blasting breath of power.
They separated and flew apart, spraying a massive shower.
Seeing the egg in the tree between them the dragons rushed ahead
Unleashing another blast in sync, making icy hail burning red.
This hail fell on the armies, whose fighting still raged on
As the icy fire fell upon them the traveler thought he'd won.
For the creatures fell into dust, now powder black and white
But the dragons remained unscathed, the egg between their might.
