To the Very Edge

by Angela   Oct 3, 2004

Every time we talk
It's like I don't even know you,
You're a whole different person
And I see right through you.

I can't handle it anymore
I'm pushed toward the edge,
I can't see the real you anymore
And I've fallen off the ledge.

Phone calls last only seconds
No time to ask what, or how?
I remember what you were like before
Why aren't you like that now?

I have so many questions
But the answers, you don't give back,
Why can't you be like you used to be?
Instead of turning white to black.

I don't know why you've changed
Or why you even left,
You were a hero in my eyes
But you took that away like theft.

You don't smile like you used to
You run to the very edge,
You attempt to go back sometimes
But you've now fallen off the ledge.
