Rewinde

by John Holley   Nov 3, 2004

He said "we're together"
As he lay by her side
Knowing they were trapped
And wound soon be fried
Surrounded in flames
He began to choke
The roof collapsed
And all he saw was smoke
He found her on the floor
Trying hard to breath
He heard her voice
And knew he couldn't leave
Though the house was burning
He ran right inside
His team couldn't stop him
Even though they tried
That's when he realized
That his house was burning
The fire truck parked
After a ride of turning
He hopped on the truck
After receiving the call
His neighbor had spotted
The fiery walls
The house was no match
For the strength of the fire
In a matter of minutes
It had the house entire
She woke up to find
She had no where to go
The pot on the stove
Began to overflow
One day she fell asleep
While cooking a meal
He became a fighter
'Cause he loved the thrill
Everything was great
Wasn't a day she cried
He promised they'd be together
Him right by her side

(the story is told backwards)
