Spent Years

by Erica Brown©   Nov 10, 2004

With his bags packed,
He kissed her sleeping head.
Out the driveway he backed.
Causing her to awake from bed.

Running out the front door,
She smelled the exhaust from his car.
Her heart he just tore,
She knew he had left far.

Back inside she ran,
After crying many tears.
Throwing away all she had gotten from that man.
But she couldn't get rid of all those spent years.
