Saving Her Life

by Michelle   Nov 22, 2004

Today I met someone new
She wanted to tell me something
I asked her to tell me later
She said she might not be around

We sat down at lunch
Still wondering what she meant
She explained her life was horrible
Without her brother, she didn't want to live

She wanted me to tell her mother
That it wasn't her fault at all
I told her I could help her
I was told she was beyond help

Two hours until the planned time
I sat at home trying to think
Think about what I could do
I drove as fast as I could

I told her it wasn't all that bad
She said her brother was like her dad
Her life wasn't worth living without him
I had to talk her out of it

An hour passed
Plan still intact
Her mother now knew
Two people now stopping a gun

Her mother told me
About how close she was to her brother
I now understood her pain
It was the same pain I felt
When my father walked out on my mom

We sat her down and told her
It wasn't the end of the world
She argued that she couldn't take it
But we promised we'd help

Today I met someone new
She wanted to tell me....
Thanks for saving her life
