Requiem

by Elizabeth Ann   Nov 29, 2004

Me.......
Save me from these visions of you...
Seen last gathered in your shelter...calling my name, staring without you.
In a standard din of sadness, satisfied for now in your hollowed insides.
You...
When the world has yet to touch me, you’ve already reached me...
With a phrase you impress me, with a look you insult me. Can you not see why I’m hollow?
Me...
When you dream you still hold my vision...yes, I know.
You would never break our kiss to linger someplace else.
Hollow...I say confess my priceless gift.
There’s no reason not to accept how things will change.
You...
A thousand moments like this will become my lifetime.
I think about you without having to dream about you.
Tonight and every night, it’s only you and me.
Any other life is overrated.
There...my confession.
Me...
Your lonely mind would entrap me.
Singled out in a space of more than a billion, willing souls to know you.
Who am I to startle you, into re-enacting every moment times a thousand?
You...
Do not take me as every one.
There’s no reason to miss this one chance to have you.
Me...
And what if I’m not so in tuned, as you?
You...
Then you must let me fall.
And I will still love you.

I thoroughly enjoy the many layers of your poetry. There is a nice metaphysical by-play laced within and without your intention.
