Eternally Cold

by Atahan Tolunay   Dec 13, 2004

Darkness fell upon the library windows; I knew my eyes would bear no more
But still searching amongst the deep silent shadows, for the one book of ancient lore
Strange voices inside my head now suddenly appear
To the book they seem to draw me near
Down there on the floor
I see the ancient book of lore
A sudden click I hear, as I bow
To reach this ancient lore
Startled by this quick sudden fear
I soon calm myself, “Oh Dear Oh Dear”
“My feeble mind is playing tricks on me now”

As I pick it up I sense the urge to drop, this mysterious book of lore
Thus it fills me with a chill of winter, reminding me of hate forevermore
Even though the reluctant feeling of exploring this closed book
My heart urges me to go on, and I say “I’ll just take a quick look”

That “quick look” soon became more
Trapped inside this intriguing ancient lore
I lost track of time and space forevermore
The frost of winter had frozen me to the core

Pending between life and death I’m trapped
In this lonely limbo of no mans land
All my feelings altogether overlapped
I drop the ancient book from my dead hand
