Cruel Dreams

I confessed that I missed you, wondering if it was the right thing to do,
But you smiled and told me that you missed me too,
Then you pulled me closer, holding me tight,
Your lips against mine, everything was all right.
Just gazing in your eyes, my life was going great,
Didn’t want to hold it back, didn’t want to wait,
Wanted to tell you what you meant to me,
To prove to you we were meant to be,
I decided to give you one last kiss,
Before I told you my undying wish,
So we embraced once again, our souls entwined,
Then I stopped to tell you what was on my mind.
Yet before I could speak, the worst came to pass,
And realizing the truth pierced me like glass!
It was only a dream…I feel like a fool,
It felt so real… how entirely cruel!
How could it dare to show me all I desire,
Then quickly set those dreams up in smoke and fire
It played with my heart, and raised my hopes
Then it left me all alone, just trying to cope
Things were going good, I was starting to feel better,
Now I’m trapped again, bound in love’s steel fetter.
When will it end, when will it cease,
When will I finally find my release?
Don’t get too comfortable, life may not be what it seems,
For the second you relax, you’ll see it was just a dream…
