Why does it cry?

by Brandon Evans   Dec 29, 2004

A buried temple, awaiting union
A grand cavern painted in hope
Follow the road to our deepest wish
Follow the light to our secret garden

Beyond the gate; a beauty
A secret, sleeping in the deep
Heed not the dark messenger, falling towards the edge of despair.

A trail of tears in hindsight
A synoptic path ahead
Alas, we’ve been here before…

Do not lose faith, my friend
You will find your way
Believe in your heart, for it holds the key
Let your mind be the vessel
Let your soul be the guide

Our sanctuary awaits your company
I’ve opened the door for us
Take my hand, we’ll go as one

This land, once green, now covered in snow
Memories of sunshine, trapped in bitter ice
It matters not, for we hold the light
Venture with me to the deepest recesses.
For there we’ll find our flower

Glowing with vigor and everlasting charisma
A single rose did bloom
Bestowing its seraphic radiance, our fears had turned to bliss
Calmly watching, as frost melted away, our faces bore new smiles

Amidst life reborn, spreading throughout our garden
Our eyes locked upon that rose
Its dreams had been fulfilled, yet tears still fall from its petals
Why does it cry?

“Dear rose”
“What saddens your heart?”

“These tears I shed are not an evil” replied the rose.
“For these are the tears of love.”
