I hear echoes, echoes in the woods,
Something’s coming closer, closer than it should,
I hear a “howl” in the distance, a “rib bit” at my feet,
I tried so hard to make life work,
But the ends just wouldn’t meet,
I tried to say I’m sorry,
But you were too hurt to listen,
I tried to talk it all out,
But then you left again,
You wouldn‘t hear my story,
It couldn’t have been all that long,
You wouldn’t even bother,
I didn’t mean to do you wrong,
My life got so confusing,
I didn’t think I’d make it through,
I tried to just ignore it,
I couldn’t stop thinking of you,
I didn’t want to hurt you, just the thought brought me to tears,
Now I realize that I messed up,
Because if I never would‘ve done it,
You might still be here.
