Set Me Free

by Mike D.   Jan 13, 2005

As I lay between the sheets watching the sunrise,
She was still by my side, looking deep in her eyes.
As the sun hits her flawless body, and glistens in her hair,
I could still taste her lips, feel her heartbeat, my answered prayer.
I became addicted, with every touch and every kiss,
I felt her under my skin, she left me in bliss.

I prayed for time to stand still, to forever remain with her,
An angel who brings me dreams of azure.
I reminisced of how I held her close and felt her energy,
I embraced her scent as I looked at her longingly.
Her touch made it harder to breathe,
Her eyes told me she'd never leave.

I got too lost in her heart, too tangled in her love,
With her I soar, I fly in the heavens above.
But my sunrise quickly turned to rain as I awoke from my dream,
The tears rolled down my cheeks, and the pillow muffled my scream.
My dreams feel real, but they never seem to be,
I wish sometimes I don't wake up, and God just sets me free.
