September Nights

by livefreebright   Jan 21, 2005

The summer's fading fast
And the leaves are turning gold
Sitting here under this tree
My hand grasped by your hold

Time seems to pause
Whenever I'm with you
The world moving around us
Unaware of what we do

Just rest my head on your shoulder
So you could catch my tears
Your arms around my waist
Protecting me from all the fears

So much hate in the world
So glad that we found this
Wish that it could never end
Always remember that kiss

My heart stopped beating
My feet lifted off the ground
I finally got lucky
With the love that I had found

And as the summer grew colder
You began to move away
Although I need you with me
Lost you more and more each day

Finally it came
The day my world crashed
Never thought it could happen
Saw my whole life in a flash

Now the winter overpowers me
Cold and dying in the snow
Your not here to hold me close
Why did you have to go

The only thing to warm my heart
Are memories of those nights
Way back in September
When you would hold me tight

Winter never seems to end
Love no where in sight
I still feel love for you
Yet I'm not sure if it's right

I pray every day
That soon spring will come
Maybe it will bring you back
Or maybe I'm just being dumb

Why would you want to return
To something that didn't last
Won't you give me another chance
Because September went to fast
