Light and Rose

by Broken   Jan 24, 2005

Behind the faded light
Once sat a single rose
Full of power and beauty
But lifeless is now it’s pose

No one really knew
The things the rose did
To insure love for light
So good riddance the light bid

And the light never knew
How much it needed it’s rose
The light couldn't see it
Right under it’s nose

What’s light’s purpose
Without it’s rose to shine for?
The light was miserable
If it couldn’t love the rose anymore

Without pride, the light came back
To shine with utter most splendor
But instead, shocked and hurt
The rose didn’t quite surrender

The rose’s pedals were wearing thin
Bruised and torn, hardly perfect
Detecting something unusual
The light it had to inspect

Nothing but tears and hurt
Came from the light’s answers
The truth was eventually found
Pain engulfed the rose like cancer

Hurt because the rose hurt
The light couldn’t shine so bright
Both started to decay slowly
And the rose wanted spite

Even though the rose was scarred
It still wanted joy for the light
The rose did everything in power
To keep it’s light shining bright

The light never realized
How the rose love it so
With more regret than ever
It still tried to glow
