Burning of the Heart

by dandy   Feb 17, 2005

Surrounded by increasing flames,
I try to back away.
They beckon me with orange light;
I start to go astray.

Everything is going wrong,
the flames now block my sight.
If everything else in my world is wrong,
this must finally be right.

The licking flames rise higher,
as I begin to near.
Faint voices echo from afar;
they all are filled with fear.

You didn't care about me then,
so how come you care now?
I guess you finally realized,
how little happiness my heart allowed.

I needed you a while back,
but I don't anymore.
Let's see how much you like it
when you are ignored.

I feel the flames strike at my face,
and start to singe my hair.
So leave me like you did before,
because I'm lost without a prayer.

My skin begins to melt,
and my heart begins to burn.
I'm slightly frightened of the feeling,
but beyond the point of return.

Everyone showed coldness;
No one cared about the storm.
Well I don't need you now,
the scalding fire keeps me warm......

No one cares or understands. but then again why should they? After all, it's me.

    There are always times that people feel like that, myself included. But you have to remember that if a 'friend' started that fire then a friend is always around with a fire extinguisher
