Comments : Toy Soldiers

The soldier means nothing and everything at the same time.

One thing I'll disagree on is this; the top brass who weigh up the numbers ran the fields too, they know the exact costs and the prices paid. What they also know is that that is how war works and those who sign up know the risks.

    Another inspirational read, K.

I love this poem because it's so true and it's something that bothers me constantly as well...check out some of my poems if you get the chance

This is a very good poem, I do agree with
you on the stanzas about the news. And the
ones about; “Numbers, not lives” and
“Old men determine” but I do agree with
Bert Higgins. The 9th stanza gave me a
uncomfortable feeling. I rewrote it and to
me it has a better feel. Please don’t be offended
I respect you and your writing, it has always
been great like this one is. It’s just my opinion,
I feel that’s what commenting is all about, good
and bad. I’m not saying to change it, maybe
I got it all wrong, ether way it’s your write and
    you have your opinion too.

    Young men are “heroes”
    To go into war
    Defending our country
    Fighting for freedom and more

Why fooled? Is it because no weapons of mass
destruction were found? If so, write about Bush
fooling you and I. Our military go because their
called up, all know what’s involved good and bad.

And kill so much more? do you mean civilians?
If you feel for the civilians, please write and add
one more stanza for them. I have friends and
family fighting overseas for you and I, fooled
they are not, all “Heroes” they are. Toy soldier
or falling in battle. “God bless our troops”

    Bogie-

I agree with you, and I also support our troops. What I mean by "they kill so much more" is not that they are not justified for being there, many of these men and women have a passion for what they are doing and they are defending our country and our freedom.

This poem isnt about the war necessarily but it is how people respond to the war. It is simply pointing out that the soldiers are not seen as people, few people have emotional attachments to them unless they know someone in the war. I know that when I hear about death tolls it doesnt seem like that big of a deal, but I know it really is, so I felt the need to write about the lack of appreciation for these soldiers lives.

Oh!!! My, I feel so much better now, thank you
for clearing that up for me Kaitlin. I am sorry
but sometimes I am a big baby. It hurt me to post
what I did, but I had to ask and know. Your add
on is perfect and the write was and still is excellent.
I have put you through a lot more work and know
you care, or you would have not done it, thanks.

I never had hard feelings and never will, you are
a very talented writer and I do love your work.
I hope you still love me and we can have children
together someday. LOL!!! He! He! He!
I hope your laughing; I just want to make you smile,

lol you did make me smile; and I still love you, no worries lol.

I care that when people read my work they say what is on their mind, and I am glad that if I gave the wrong impression in my work that someone cleared it up, because what you thought I meant was not what I intended, so im glad that you let me know

    Loves,
