Only Love?

by Daniel Mulvany   Mar 6, 2005

Sweetly unto you I sing a summers sonnet,
I woefully dreary song of love long lost:
The one I miss, she is the one I lived for,
The one I loved so long and left alone.
Her hair was soft and smooth as any child's,
As though she had been born just hours before.
Her love ran from her head down to her ankles,
And from her ankles to her head and more.
I loved her once, I loved her then severely,
Her scent as sweet as petals 'cross the floor.
I long for her caress I miss so dearly,
The love within her eyes, oh how she loved!
But love, is love all in this world we need?
Is love all of the comfort I adore?
For I have never smelled or felt, been with her,
Only seen her beauty there and nothing more.
