A Special Kind of Love

by dandy   Mar 8, 2005

A special kind of love,
comes straight from the heart.
Out through the mind and soul,
is where this special love departs.

It wonders aimlessly about,
until it's found protection,
In another's heart,
this special love shows affection.

So deep, so real, so pure and gentle,
never can it be touched.
Only by purity's innocence
can this special love be clutched.

This love doesn't come from humans,
Man, woman, nor child.
Some might say this kind of love
comes from something wild.

But many disagree with this,
as their hearts are set;
on that special kind of love,
one provided only by pets.

Pets love us no matter what,
they're never quick to judge.
They forgive you for mistakes,
and never hold a grudge.

You'd be happy if they lived forever,
but this isn't so.
It's horrible when it's time,
to finally let them go.

You'll cry and grieve and be miserable,
for sometimes many days.
But know their love is still around,
just in a different way.

Dogs, cats, fish, horses and birds,
pets of every kind.
No matter what sort of creature,
a friend in them we find.

Remember happy times with them,
before the barrier of worlds was crossed.
It's much worse to never have loved them,
even when they're loved and lost.

Dedicated to the White family. Love you guys always, and I'm so sorry about your chickens.
