Equation of Love

by Erica Brown©   Mar 9, 2005

Three times one,
Leaves me with an odd number.
Yet the equation is not done,
And neither are my lingering feelings.

One day I will subtract two,
Knowing I've made a right choice.
Leaving me alone with you,
But which one will fill that variable.

The one who is sweet?
The one who makes me feel safe?
Or the one who I actually did meet?
I never wanted to decide this way.

You see I messed up and subtracted three,
Which also subtracted pieces from my heart.
All that's left is that lonely one, me,
I admit I was never good at math.
