Lust for a Red Dream

by Elizabeth Ann   Mar 10, 2005

The sweetness of the night has entered saccharine, and its disguising fever as morbid to the world as my plague, where my kind has quickly surrendered.

And for all my solitude I’m relentless to bear this burden alone.
And thus I’ve hidden myself among you…enduring my violent start a previous vulture, becoming moral upon my exit.

With miles to go I’ve already led, into your futures as well and no danger. My will is mine and not lust, and now I stand against those unwilling to do the same.

And a new century brings then as every night I’m dead. There a hollow light sheds upon my prey I’ve bled. Whom of all my staggering kin I’ve lost to conscience, and while I’ve damned eternity to exceed my sin its cost; a named deserter.

Oh, needless to say, I loved the poem. As I've said many times before, I love the tale captured poetically in every poem of yours. It's easy to become immersed in pondering the psyches, the experiences of such beings, especially as capably as you have birthed them.

I have to admit an inane side effect to reading these poems of yours... I try to guess the clan, together with even more specific details like, oh... *chuckle* merits and flaws! ;)

    Wonderful work, yet again*
As usual your powerful style creates this incredibley entrancing atmosphere for the reader to partake and enjoy throughout the piece, and your flawless text intensifies your symbols and common language to an exceeding emotional image. i especialyl admired the lines,
"And a new century brings then as every night I’m dead. There a hollow light sheds upon my prey I’ve bled. Whom of all my staggering kin I’ve lost to conscience, and while I’ve damned eternity to exceed my sin its cost; a named deserter."
I love how you worded those lines and made them so they created this beautiful understanding to the piece. Your words create a boundry through time and fantasy that the reader can comply to, and leave them breathless with exotic symbols and powerful words.
