Hearts in Pain

by David O   Aug 3, 2003

How does a heart sustain such pain?
With every ebb of life I now aspire
For the simplicity of love's fulfillment,
Yes, the burning of intimacies fire,

Yet love's burdens we now bequeath
As we yield to weights untold,
In this quest for a love unfettered,
Alas our hearts desires do tragically unfold,

Our path fraught with chasms so deep,
It brings such tears to my heart,
As our love gasps its last breath,
O such deep sadness now as we part.
