Not good enough

I went to the mall today,
Looking for something to wear,
I have to look good for you,
Find something that will make you stare

I found this cute little dress,
I thought that it made me look good,
I wanted you to notice me,
But I didn't think you would

Because why would you now?
When you haven't ever before
What would one dress do different?
I'll have to think if something more

I worked on my personality,
I tried to make myself more interesting,
Maybe then you would like me,
And actually start noticing

I went to the dance and walked in
I saw you standing there
You looked so good
I couldn't help but stare

So I finally got up the courage,
To walk over to you,
I was gonna say hello,
And hope that you'd pull through

I finally said hello
And you said it back
It was really great
Cause I was ready for an attack

I asked you to dance
And you said you would
I got all excited and happy
Cause dancing would feel so good

Then the song came on,
I went looking for you,
What I saw I didn't like,
I didn't know what to do

You were with someone else,
When it was supposed to be my dance,
it hurt so very bad to see,
That you wouldn't give me a chance

I ran home crying my eyes out,
Couldn't believe that this happened,
Thought I had you without a doubt

My mom tried to comfort me,
But I wouldn't take it,
I didn't want to fell better,
I just wanted to quit

I got up out of bed,
And tore up all my stuff,
I guess I finally realized,
That I just wasn't good enough.
