~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Staring deep into your dark brown eyes
I think of all you have put me through
All the laughs, all the lies
About everything I knew

Someway somehow you got a hold of me
When I wouldn’t let anyone else near
I don’t know why, but someway somehow
You could tell me everything I wanted to hear

I slowly let my guard down
Beginning to get to know you
And then I started realizing
That to me you were so true

I then felt like I needed you
And it felt like you needed me
Some still tell me that I was too naïve
I was just too blind to see

You’ve hurt me more than once
Made me cry one too many cries
But for some reason I couldn’t get over you
So I came back to all of your wonderful lies

Maybe in the end its my fault
For jumping in way too deep
I knew from the first time I met you
That you were the type that could make me
Cry myself to sleep

I don’t know how you did it
Or why you would do such a thing
To make me actually fall in love with you
When to you it was just a fling

So as I stare into those deep brown eyes
Of your picture that was on my wall
I rip it to pieces as I shed one last cry
Finally realizing I wasn’t anything to you at all

Because of you I’m always afraid
Afraid to let anyone else in
Wanting to, but don’t want the hurt
The pain that lives deep within

But I’ll always remember you as my first love
And that you did teach me something
That maybe someday, someway, somehow
I’ll find a someone who will really love me

Putting your feeling into words gracefully and poeticly is an art that most of us never achieve. Keep writing young poet... and believe me, you will live to love and trust again.

  • I really liked the repeat of "someway, somehow". It really added to the whole effect of the poem.. Great poem.
