Endless fields

by Sinister Soire   Apr 2, 2005

Endless fields of crosses
Stretch out from where I stand
Filling acres to remember
The ones that won this land

A cross for each that died
And fell during the war
Remembering the lost
And the people they died for

Each cross a marble monument
Representing all the truth
Honoring the loved now gone
And the many slaughtered youth

So many crosses here to show
Each child or man or boy
The cost we had to pay
To replace destruction with some joy

The fields here before me
Will be here long after
Always here to symbolize
The price we pay for laughter
