The exchanging of a heart

by Kristen   Apr 8, 2005

You fell from the stars that night
that fateful moment, i remember
you asked so kindly for my heart
and with this love, to surrender.
"Your heart needs a home,
Kristen your love needs a place."
you spoke with such beauty
and moved with simple grace.
i was intrigued
and had no other choice but to believe
in return for my broken heart
all your love i would receive.
initially skeptical,
your eyes had me misled
struck by naivety
i was compelled to give in instead.
my doubts and all my fears
in my heart, i gave them to you
still the hopes and all the dreams
despite all i had been through
without hesitation, i handed you the pieces
looking in your eyes for some reaction
and from your lips was born a smile
in a sense of complete satisfaction.
"Thank you for your beauty,
this is worth more to me than whole mines of gold,
i will love you now and until forever,
together we shall grow wise and old."
tears flooded to my eyes
in happiness that I'd never known before
embraced with such serenity
knowing i needn't be broken anymore
"And here is what i had promised,
in hopes you'll trust all that i shall make,
from this heart i shall only give to you
there's nothing from you I'll ever take"
your heart shone with brilliant light
radiating beauty across the lands
i shed a single tear
as i took it gently from your hands.
with your heart i felt complete
as if I'd never been a whole
and with these eyes i could see
within the depths of your soul.
i gave you all my pieces
and in return, received this part
and thus was revealed the beauty
in the exchanging of a heart.
