More than Sixteen

by Bridget   Apr 11, 2005

I was blind to it
But now I can see
I was absolutely nothing to you
How could you do this to me?

I tried so hard to be all that you wanted
Tried so hard and didn't even flaunt it
But you shook your head and said no thanks
Now I'm left with an expression that's completely blank

Did you think that I would give into temptation?
Did you honestly believe or was I mistaken?

I told you time and time again
I'm not going to be that kind of girlfriend
The kind that gives it up to the first one who asks
I believe in more than just sex, and you thought that was simply a mask

Now I'm left with nothing but pride
And as important as that is to me
I'm still hurt inside

I just wish you could have seen all that I can be
Because I'm more than just sixteen
I'm growing up to be me
