Butterflies Flew

by Slaughtered Pixie   Apr 26, 2005

The fairies twinkle on their toes
As the butterflies begin to fly
The prince walks toward his throne
He is young but he is wise

As he slowly and silently walks
Everyone bows to their knees
We all smile with utter respect
He turns and looks straight at me

His skin is soft and quite fair
And his hair is beautiful and long
His smile makes me blush a rosy red
Tell me, am I doing something wrong?

He gives me a flirtatious wink
As everyone stands back to their feet
This has to be the only boy
That I can hardly wait to meet

The music begins and flows past me
And a few couples begin to dance
The butterflies are still rapidly flying
And the fairies continue to trance

He takes my hand so gently
We seemed to fly across the floor
The song ended and he disappeared
Oh, how I wished and longed for more

The way he seemed to be looking at me
With his shockingly blue eyes
I was now beginning to understand
Why I had so many butterflies

He was my first thought when I woke up
He was in my dreams every single night
There is no combination of words
That could possible begin to describe my delight

A Royal Ball would be arriving soon
I waited so long, and my invitation finally came
I wonder if my charming Prince
Possibly knew my name

I searched and retrieved my emerald gown
Then I left to see my Prince
I wondered if he loved me
If he did, he would give me a kiss

"Miss Samantha Sweet
We are all so glad to have you come"
He couldn't have said it more beautifully
I felt my throat swell and my tongue go numb

Finally I managed to stutter out
"I'm so happy to here"
My cheeks flushed a bright red
I had built up cowardliness and fear

He took me out to the floor, and we danced again
"I love you. Will you be my wife?"
Without thinking, I instantly said "Yes"
I'm looking forward to the rest of my life

When the had came, I walked down the long aisle
With my roses and white dress
I had a true smile on my face
And my Prince seemed to be feeling the best

They gave me a gem studded crown
And named me the Princess of Never Land
Not only this wondrous news
But I was the most amazing man

We both finally said, "I do."
Then he gently kissed my mouth
I couldn't even begin to explain
What I possible was thinking about

I woke up the next day to the bright sun
And I filled you in on how it seemed
I must be a silly, stubborn girl
It was nothing more than a marvelous dream

I wish that my dream could be real
And it just might come true
My fairies twinkled on their toes
And my gently butterflies flew

**I wrote this when I was thinking about Fairy Tales.**
