Foolish Love (sonnet)

by Erin   Apr 26, 2005

True love is not for the foolish at heart,
To those who are Love is worldly desire,
True Love does not allow feelings to part,
True Love will grow like a raging wildfire.

Sexual desire should not be a need,
Nor should financial growth need be achieved,
Between lovers this will cause painful greed,
True Love's feelings should simply be believed.

The result of these needs is foolish love,
And the outcome of that is heartache,
Love comes from the heart not something above,
True Love will never end in a mistake.

The heart sees all that naked eyes cannot,
Foolish love is a war not worth being fought.
