Riding in the Rain

by dandy   May 3, 2005

The sweet scent of spring
lingering in the air.
Relaxed and content,
I have not a care.

This creature beneath me;
such strength, power and grace.
Flowing mane in the breeze;
she's ready to race.

Forelock brushing gently
over sparkling brown eyes.
Dark caverns of affection
cannot be disguised.

Cantering along the trails
among the shadowed trees.
Nothing else exists,
my mind is now at ease.

Pitter-pattering on the leaves,
as the mare's gait does slow.
Warm moisture falling all around
as fire-flies start to glow.

There's no comparison to that
of riding in the rain.
It softens feelings and alerts the senses,
while washing away all pain.
