Dreaming

I'm strolling down the sidewalk
On my way home from school
The wind is blowing through my hair
Not too warm, and not too cool
Something caught my attention
And made me pause to yield
It was you and all your football buddies
Playing in the field
I paced around a couple of times
Started looking left and right
Making sure i couldn't see
Anyone in sight
I walked up to the silver fence
Barely trying to hide
I figured you wouldn't notice me
It's not like you ever tried
Just watching you was joy
And brought a smile to my face
I was in some kind of dreamland
Like a totally different place
But of course that's how it always was
Just some fantasy of mine
I knew you'd never go for me
i could never cross that line
And so I stood there looking
Really quiet and really still
When something out of the blue happened
Something so unreal
Right before you caught the ball
Your hands were in the air
And right before it got to you
You noticed me standing there
"That's just great!" I thought
"How dumb I must look"
But then you smiled and yelled out "hey!"
And my breath is what you took
I seen you running toward me
And I couldn't believe my eyes
And all the things you started to say
Took me by surprise
"I've noticed you a lot here lately
Walking down this way
But I never got the chance to talk
And I just wanted to say...
I think you're really pretty
And I think we can hit it off
All you have to do is give me a try
Please don't blow me off."
I couldn't stop smiling
And this feeling was so deep
And right as we leaned to kiss
My alarm clock began to beep
I turned it off
And sat up in my bed
With only thoughts of you
Running through my head
Yeah, it was just a dream
Just something that's pretend
And i guess I'll just keep dreaming
Until the very end
You'd never go for a girl like me
I've accepted this to be true
But that doesn't mean i have to stop
Always dreaming of you!
