On nights like this, I miss you here.
Lying with me, holding me near.
Hearing you breath, watching you sleep,
Enjoying each moment I so long to keep.
Wake in the morning, warm to your touch,
Letting you know i love you so much.
Absorbing your being, lie close in your arms,
Knowing I'm safe and free from all harm.
Reality hits me.. A bolt from the blue.
I'm lying alone and not beside you.
I steal myself back to the times we share,
And remind myself that life's not always fair.
But i never guessed I'd feel like this
Longing relentlessly for the touch i miss.
And when you come home, I'll see your smile,
I know in my heart, you were here all the while.
Time goes so slowly when your not here.
My days seem empty, the nights I fear.
I know that work takes you away.
I always knew that, right from the first day.
But i know you'll return to me once again.
I never know how, and cannot guess when.
But soon you'll be back and hold and love me,
And I'll be here waiting just as i should be.
And sometime in the future, I dint know when,
You wont have to go away, not ever again.
