Vampire

by GemmaR   Jun 4, 2005

I've been waiting for you.
At night, I cling to side streets
Searching for you after dark,
Watching your smile illuminate
In the shadows of a passer-by.
I'm so hungry for you
This unspent desire sickens me
Quickening the sticky thud
Of a new pulse rising through me
Rising and calling, a crimson tide.
It's been so long without you
I've taken to solace in other kisses
Stealing breath through tears
Withdrawing to make me stronger.
You said I would suffocate in my passion
Crushing other hearts to reach you
But I know it's only when I am falling
You can't resist the call to return
And bleed my open wounds dry.
