Love Like Thorns

by Daniel Mulvany   Jun 10, 2005

Culminating in me my most intimate desire,
Love like thorns to stick into you, be my heart, it were a briar.
And you fall and nestle softly in it's ill-welcoming grasp,
Peircing, numbing you with love, yet holding to you like clasp.
Still my fear be branch by branch, you'll break from me, and be you free,
You'll leave me only with these roots to grow this love back like a seed.
And that overwhelming nothingness I've felt but once before,
May be a nothingness I may, but once, in this life ably endure.
